PepsiCo certainly took their sweet-ass time getting them into stores around here, but Throwback versions of Mountain Dew and Pepsi - the vintage-style formulations that use good ol' sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup - are finally on retail shelves here in Southern New England. Stock up while you can - this is a limited-time release.

Have you tried them yet? How are they? What was the cost per pack?

1. Yes, I've tried them - this is the second time PepsiCo has brought them out, on a limited-time-only basis.
2. The Pepsi, especially, is wonderful. HFCS, to me, gives beverages a cloyingly sweet flavor that sugar doesn't have. Drinking them is just like drinking the Pepsi and Dew that I used to enjoy as a kid, before corn syrup was so ubiquitous.
3. The regular price is $5.49 per 12-pack of 12-ounce cans in supermarkets in my area. But almost every week, there is at least one supermarket here that puts soft drinks on sale so we usually pay about $3.40 for a 12-pack. Plus a 5-cent-per-can deposit to promote recycling.
We've had 20-oz'ers back for sometime in the Midwest area (Iowa, anyway), but the Mountain Dews are gettin' scarce... and I love 'em. We have NOT, however, had them available in the convenience of 12-pk can pkgs. Color me jealous.
...and by 'sometime' I mean "some time", as in two words. Damn space bar. :)
Stop and Shop here in CT has a special this week on these - 3 12-packs for $10. My family doesn't drink much soda, but I wanted to support the idea of sugar only, not the corn syrup.
