There are some folks who just plain can't swallow pills for one reason or another. These might be aimed at them, in addition to the Sponge Bob and Elmo adult demographic. I'm using some myself at the moment because they were on sale cheap and I had a coupon. They don't taste horrible.
Nothing wrong with adding a little fun to the start of your day with a gummy vitamin, and I have never worn an icky Sponge Bob shirt. I am an educated professional who finds these little things in life quite amusing. When the rest of the world is in turmoil and going to hell, I still have my gummy vitamins to put a smile on my face.
I never thought much about it, but I'm one of those people... I have to fill my mouth half full of water, think about it, insert pill (no matter how small), throw my head back, think about swallowing, swallow, then drink about a cup of water as it's going down.
My wife loves to watch me take an aspirin so she can laugh at and make fun of this. So you see, taking vitamins IS fun in our house too!
That's my wife you're talking about, pal. We both like the gummy vitamins - it's like an excuse to eat candy, and they do taste that good. (Vitamin C I'm talking about here.) Why not? Sponge bob? Never!

Guess I touched a few nerves with my snark. You're right; there's no reason taking vitamins shouldn't be fun.
