It is odd. On the day I encountered these Boar's Head corned beef briskets (and there was a pile of them, all priced at $9.99 a pound) I bought a different brand of whole brisket for $1.99 a pound. And just before St. Patrick's Day, I bought a couple of flat cuts for $1.88 a pound. I don't know why the Boar's Head briskets are so expensive.
I don't think Boar's Head products are all that great. Give me an in store made roast beef or roast turkey anyday. Or even Hannaford's own Inspiration line of products is half the price and just as good. BTW, Roma Imports in Latham NY does have their own roast beef and turkey in addition to Boar's Head...
Even at 50%, which it will be after people give it a damned good leaving alone ... it's no bargain. And it will be past it's "use by" date. Unless that market re-dates meats as our local Shop & Save was caught doing.
C'mon. Brisket is a cheap ass cut going in - some salt and Tender Qwik not withstanding.

It's because it's "Boar's Head". And that means quality, dammit!
I haven't found Boar's Head stuff to be any better or worse than any other non-generic brand. Just more expensive.

Boars head is prepared in a fart saturated curing room.

Was that fresh brisket or corned?
I agree -- price is a "walk on by" price.
