As a follow-up to yesterday's post about Utz Onion & Garlic chips, here's a review of the other Utz flavored chips I tried out: Utz Red Hot.
This is another "sweet" chip; flavor components include onion powder, paprika, sugar, and spices. At first bite, they're quite similar to "barbecue" flavor, but without any of the tomatoish tastes that BBQ chips often have.
And then, right after the first bite comes the spicy heat.
Utz is not kidding around with the big flaming letters that say RED HOT and the fire graphics on the bag. These are the most seriously hot chips I have ever had, and that includes most of the lame-ass "jalapeno" chips put out by national brands. Utz chips blaze. They caught my mouth on fire and made my lips burn for at least ten minutes after I was done eating them.
Although I wish they would tone down a little on the sugar, I can wholeheartedly recommend these fiery little bastards to anyone with a taste for hot and spicy food. You will not be disappointed, I promise you.
