Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback Are Here To Stay

Good news, Throwback fans:  PepsiCo has announced that Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback are no longer "limited time only" beverages, having been added to the permanent lineup.

Both Throwback versions are made with real sugar, not with High-Fructose Corn Syrup, and taste just like the product did when I was a kid.  They're awesome.

  1. Hopefully they'll actually have it in my town now. The only place that did have it before was Meijer and they were always sold out when I checked there.

I remember the first time I had Mt. Dew as a kid, right after a little league game. It was the sweetest pop I'd ever had. (My parents never bought us kids pop except a coke about once a month when we ate at McDonalds). Years later, after the switch from sugar to the corn sweetener, I bought a Mt. Dew for myself and it just didn't taste the same as I remembered it.

I've been wanting to try a throw back ever since I first heard about it. I want to see if it's the same as that first Dew I had way back when.

  2. I tried to like throwback a little more, but it's just too sweet tasting for me...

  3. When I saw the PepsiCo press release of this on Twitter, I cried. Big, fat, beading tears of joy crawled down my face during the middle of Distilling class. One of the better days of my life, I tells ya.

  4. Is it true that a lot of the big sodas come out in corn syrup free versions that are kosher aruond Passover? One of my daughter's Jewish professors mentioned this to her. I have to hunt around in a few weeks.

  5. Pepsi bottles a sugar-sweetened Kosher for Passover version every year. The two-liter bottles can be distinguished by their white cap (regular Pepsi has a black cap.)

Also, two-liter sugar-sweetened Coca-Cola is also available as Kosher for Passover. It is bottled with a yellow cap (regular HFCS-sweetened Coca-Cola has a red cap.)

I haven't been able to find smaller bottles or cans near me, but they are also made in Kosher for Passover versions.
