Each can contains a single layer of medium-sized dressed sardines (no heads, tails, or guts.) There are no scales or nasty surprises - just delicious, tender little fish in a small amount of soybean oil. I was very pleased with these, and it's going to be tough to find another inexpensive brand that will measure up to them. Not surprisingly, Dubay is an ALDI brand, so many of you will be able to find them easily.
Wow, I just picked up a tin of these today. Whoda thunk the first review was posted today.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy 'em, Anonymous. They're top-notch.
ReplyDeleteJust bought 3 cans the other, but only 2 pieces of fish in them. Used to be the phrase "packed like sardines in a can" because the sardine was more expensive than the oil. Now it must be the other way around. I weighed my little fishies and they only weigh 2.2 ounces. So is the rest made up by water and soybean oil? Not a great bargain, then.
ReplyDeleteDubay are the best of the inexpensive sardine brands in my opinion. If anyone has experienced less than packed cans, so have I. But don't give up on this brand, because I have literally purchased cases of these, and most cans are tightly packed!
